Daily Lessons- During this unit, we have learned about many different types of fitness activities. These are activities that you can use throughout your lifetime. Following are the types of exercises we have been trying.
Tabata- high intensity interval training alternating short periods of intense exercise (often 20 seconds) with a 10 second rest or recovery period.
Cardio- exercise that raises you heart rate and breathing rate into the moderate to vigorous intensity level for 10 minutes or more.
Plyometrics- training that enhances your ability to increase speed of movements and improve power.
Yoga- an old discipline from India. It is both spiritual and physical. Yoga uses breathing techniques, exercises and meditation.
Pilates- a type of physical conditioning involving low impact exercises and stretches designed to strengthen muscles.
There are several videos for each age level to pick from this week. I have divided them into age groups but feel free to try any of them. I have included one from each type of exercise. I have also included a Healthy Heart sheet for you to use for many different ideas. As always, please be active. Walk with your family, ride your bike, shoot baskets, jump rope. Anything you can think of to get your heart pumping for 20 minutes.
JUNIOR HIGH
Thanks to those that have sent me emails and photos. I need to hear from every JH student this week. You have your choice of any of the videos or activities I have listed. On Friday, please let me know what you have chosen to do for PE this week. I will also let you use any form of exercise that you are doing for a team that you hope to be participating in this summer. I do ask that whatever you do for activity, it should take a minimum of 20 minutes of activity.
I left up the Fitness Scavenger Hunt. Thanks to those that have sent me pictures while keeping healthy with the activities.
Warm up with Spell Your Name! This week use your middle and last name.
Please print the following sheet off and mark all of the Healthy Living activities you do this week. Follow the instructions on the sheet.
